North American Solar Challenge
Solar Challenge (NASC 2008) is a competition to design, build and drive solar-powered cars in a  cross-country time/distance rally event.  Teams compete in a 2400 mile drive from Plano, Texas to Calgary, Alberta

Friends of the Plano Public Library 25th Annual Book Sale
Over 75,000 new and gently used books.  Hardback books, DVDs and CDs: $2.  Paperback books: $1.  Videocassettes, audiocassettes and records: 2 for $1.  No sales tax!  All proceeds go to the Plano Public Library System to fund collections, special projects and programs.
